Angels Landing (5.4 miles, strenuous)
Known for its narrow ridge and chains section, this trail is not for the faint of heart. A permit is required. Views from the top are unforgettable.
The Narrows (distance varies, moderate–strenuous)
Hike in the Virgin River between towering slot canyon walls. Bring water shoes or rent gear in Springdale.
Emerald Pools (1.2–3 miles, easy–moderate)
Family-friendly and shady, with waterfalls and scenic pools.
Canyon Overlook Trail (1 mile, easy)
A short hike with huge rewards — perfect if you’re short on time.
Use the free shuttle system (spring–fall). Cars aren’t allowed in the main canyon during peak season.
Bring at least 2 liters of water per person and wear sun protection.
Arrive early — parking lots fill by mid-morning.
Skip weekends if possible. Weekdays are calmer.
Local Insider Tip: My favorite way to see Zion is by e-bike. You can skip the shuttles and cruise through the canyon at your own pace — it’s quiet, breathtaking, and gives you the freedom to stop whenever you want for photos or a snack.
